Baby Update

Caleb is home now and doing well. Sam isn't sure about the change. I keep reminding him that Caleb will get bigger and then they'll be able to play together. He is happy about that. He is also enjoying attention from Grammy, who has been with us all week, and looking forward to a visit from Nana in a few days.
I wanted to update everyone on Caleb's kidneys. They did an ultrasound on them the day he was born and the right kidney was still somewhat dilated. This may go away between now and the follow-up in 6 weeks. If not, they will do a study to see if he has "reflux" - some urine going back up into the kidney. Most likely even if he had this, they would just follow it and it would go away as he grew. In the meantime we are giving him a small daily dose of antibiotics to prevent a urinary tract infection. All in all, we are very thankful to God for Caleb's health.
We uploaded the previous posts' pictures on the WiFi at the hospital. This one was done on our dial-up internet at home and took about an hour to upload. So we have lots of great pictures but I can't put them all up right now. Hopefully soon we will have access to a better internet connection, and then we will catch up. I especially want to post some pictures of Isaac and Sam in the garden. Isaac has planted a vegetable garden with potatoes, onions, radishes, beets, and various lettuces. The weather is beautiful here today. Usually we have gale-force winds here at the farm, but so far today it is sunny and calm. I hope to get outside!
Those of you who go to Meadowbrook, please pass on our blog address so others can see pictures of Caleb. We miss you guys!

Caleb is beautiful! I'm so happy for you guys - you've been in my prayers with the move to Illinois and the pregnancy, and it looks like God has really been looking out for you. I check the blog all the time, so keep posting pictures of those kids.
