To the praise of the glory of His grace

Ephesians 1:5-6 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.

I want to take some space on the blog to praise God's grace to us. Lately I have been reminded of how much I am blessed with. Specifically, this year God has shown His grace to us through:

1. New house - Isaac and I looked at houses last summer in Columbus. We looked at houses here in Peoria before we moved out. We looked at houses after we moved out. Several times we thought we found the right house; two times we actually entered into contracts. But ultimately, God had something better for us here in Washington. This has become abundantly clear through #2 and #3, below, as well as the timing.

2. Neighbors - One of the things that has turned out amazingly well about our new house is the specific location on Cruger Road. Our road is very quiet because it is a dead end road and almost no traffic comes past our house. The people living on this road have become a real neighborhood and have a lot in common. They are very friendly and most of them are Christians. This is especially true in the case of our neighbors the Crumrines. They have made us feel like we've been here a lot longer than a few months. We enjoy spending time with them, and I have learned so much from their Christian example. Plus, they helped us with our new lawn!

Scott, Heidi, Moriah, and Timothy laboriously rake the seedbed smooth, picking out rocks and glass (July).

3. church - God has really blessed us with great church fellowship in the past year. Before we left Columbus, we had found a great church called Meadowbrook. It was the first church we attended that really felt like family and the "Acts 2 church." We were very sad to leave and I was convinced we wouldn't find anything as good. Well, God showed me I was wrong right away. Before we had a chance to go to church after moving to our new house, the Crumrines came over and introduced themselves. They told us about their church, and it was one I had found online and wanted to try. So we went the next Sunday and have never had to visit any other churches. It is very similar to Meadowbrook in that it is a small congregation that feels like family. Our new church is called Free Grace, and they are such a blessing to us.

4. health issues - God has taught me also through the reading of His Word during some health stresses. This week we had two good reports: 1) Sam had his kidneys screened to make sure he doesn't have the reflux that Caleb has, and he looks fine! and 2) Rachel had a colonoscopy to investigate some problems and that also looked good!

I just wanted to use this opportunity to praise God for all of His blessings! I pray that I can always see His working and thank Him instead of focusing on the little things in life that can get me frustrated.

1 Cor. 4:7

For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

1 Cor. 10:31

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
