Caleb health update

We met with the pediatric urologist last week to get an explanation of what they've found with all of their testing. Both of Caleb's kidneys have excess fluid. They determined that on one side this is due to a most likely temporary constriction in the tube draining into the bladder. The other side is due to reflux of fluid from the bladder back up to the kidney. He has grade 4 out of 5 on that side. This means that he has a slim chance of spontaneous recovery. However, they will try to give him that chance before doing surgery. We will keep watching his kidney function with tests, and giving him antibiotics to prevent urinary tract infections, while we wait to see if it improves. If not, we're looking at surgery, probably at around 2-3 years old, unless he has problems in the meantime. Thanks for your continued concern and prayers for Caleb. Otherwise he is a very happy and healthy baby!

Hey Rachel and Isaac. Thanks for the update on Caleb. Hope you guys are both doing well. It's interesting hearing the descriptions from the Kidney tests. Leigh actually did some animations for someone in her research lab about different bladder/kidney dysfunctions that sound similar to what Caleb is experiencing. You can see them here. We'll be praying for you guys.
