Perfect Summer

Our weather has been so beautiful this summer. It has been surreal to enjoy our new three acres of outdoor fun. Isaac blazed a trail through the woods into the ravine last week with our friendly neighbors' skid steer and bush hog attachment (those of you who know Isaac may well imagine the blast he had doing it). Now Sam enjoys riding his bike through the woods to confront the imaginary dinosaurs. The same neighbors came with the skid steer to level our plowed-up yard and seed it with grass. We're finally seeing some green out there after a month of torn-up yard following the septic system installation (more pictures to follow). We picked out almost a 32-gallon trash can full of trash, mostly glass shards, from the ground before seeding. Apparently, someone had a trash pile buried around our leach field in the past and it was redistributed by the excavator. So keep in mind that you never know what future generations might do on your property! I had a hard time keeping from grumbling to myself as I bent over in the hot sun picking up glass. I was starting to see glass shards in my sleep.
Caleb is growing (almost 13 lbs. now), learning to suck his thumb, and sleeping 8 hrs. straight at night. This week we've enjoyed a visit from my mom. While she's entertained Caleb, I've made great progress on the last of the boxes in the garage remaining from the move.
